Isaac Poole earned WAC Men's Diver of the Week while freshman
Maria Brunlehner claimed WAC Women's Swimmer of the Week after last weekend's performances against Air Force.
On Friday, Poole won the 1- and 3-meter events with scores of 372.0 and 339.75 points. His 372.0 points on the 1-meter springboard set a GCU and WAC record. The Shoreline, Washington, native concluded the weekend with a sweep after winning the platform event with 272.48 points versus the Falcons.
GCU's Brunlehner recorded the season's fastest time in the WAC in the 200-yard individual medley at two minutes, 6.9 seconds. A native of Mombasa, Kenya, Brunlehner also earned a top-three individual finish in the 100 breaststroke, posting a time of 1:06.22.
Brunlehner led the women to three relay wins against the Falcons. On the first day, Brunlehner pushed the team to victory in the last leg of the 400 freestyle (3:29.87), as she came from behind to hit the wall before the Falcons' Abby Turner. She also opened up the second day at Air Force with a win in the 400 medley relay, giving the Lopes a cushioned win (3:50.15). Brunlehner closed out the weekend with a final win in the 200 freestyle relay (1:34.76).
