The Grand Canyon men's golf team heads to Hawai'i for its final fall invitational. GCU will compete in the Hoakalei CC Invitational at the Hoakalei Country Club. The invitational will be a two-day, 54-hole tournament with 36 holes on Monday and 18 on Tuesday. Each day will be a shotgun start beginning at 10:30 am (Phoenix time).
THREE THINGS TO KNOW
- FIVE LOPES: Five Lopes will travel to compete in the invitational. That quintet includesfreshmen Matteo Cristoni and Sam Murphy, graduate students Zac Owens and Jacob Lackey and  junior Matthew Braley.
- TWOÂ WAC SCHOOLS:Â GCU will face two WAC schools in O'ahu. The Lopes have played against Utah Valley in the fall already, but this will be their first time seeing Abilene Christian.
- LAST FALL TOURNAMENT: The Lopes finish their fall schedule in Hawai'I with a two-day,14-team invitational.
HOAKALEI CC INVITATIONAL
The tournament's field includes host Hawai'i, Abilene Christian, Army, Cal Poly, CSU Fullerton, GCU, Idaho, Loyola Marymount, Louisiana, Louisiana Monroe, San Diego, Texas State, UC San Diego and Utah Valley. All 14 teams will take on the par-72, 7,099-yard course with a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m. on Monday for 36 holes of continuous play. Play will commence at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

LAST TIME OUTÂ
GCU finished seventh Tuesday in the 15-team Oregon State Invitational at Trysting Tree Golf Club. Out of four participating WAC teams, the Lopes finished only behind Seattle U by five strokes. The Lopes put two players in the top 30 of the three-round event. Freshman
Sam Murphy totaled the best score for GCU, as he finished in 17th at 2 over par. The Galway, Ireland, native played his best round Tuesday, when he wrapped up the suspended round two in 1 under par. Murphy totaled 11 birdies in the tournament.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Lopes will return to action on Feb. 17-19, when they return to Hawai'i to play in the John A. Burns intercollegiate in Lihue, Kaua'i.
