Alonso Carazo Barbero was named WAC Men's Swimmer of the Week while sophomore
Lizzy Mcknight earned WAC Women's Diver of the Week for last week's performances.
A native of Rivas-Vaciamadrid, Spain, Carazo Barbero led the men's team with two first-place finishes against LSU in the 1,000-yard freestyle (9:34.77) and the 200 breaststroke (2:04.02). He holds the 46th-fastest time in the nation for the 200 breaststroke and 55th for the 1,000 freestyle, according to CollegeSwimming.com. Carazo Barbero rounded out his run with a second-place finish in the 200 individual medley with a time of 1:51.40, nearly a second away from victory.
Mcknight earned a third-place finish on the 3-meter board (273.15) and fourth place in the 1-meter event against the Tigers. Mcknight, a native of Kent, Washington, earned a total of 266.55 points in the 1 meter for her first NCAA zone-qualifying score of the season. This is 10 points higher than her score at last year's WAC Championships (255.00).
