RIVERSIDE, Calif. — The Grand Canyon women's golf team will have to wait another year to defend its Battle at the Rock championship. Due to strong winds in the Riverside area, the tournament was canceled.
After the first day was wiped out on Monday, the 17-team field began the final round of 18 holes on Tuesday. After about an hour of play, the winds picked up again and proved too strong to allow the competitors to continue. Lopes junior
Siripatsorn Patchana was 1 under par through four holes when the event ended with GCU in an early tie for second place.
The Lopes are back in action on Feb. 22-23 when they host the GCU Invitational at GCU Golf Course.
