FULLERTON, Calif. – The Grand Canyon track and field team pushed its streak of meets with a broken or tied school records to 19 meets stretching over 52 weeks. Freshman
Moataz Hassan broke the shot put record at the Cal State Fullerton Titan Team Challenge on Saturday to keep the streak alive.
Hassan broke the school record in the shot put with a 16.18-meter throw. He finished third in the event and now ranks fourth in the WAC.
GCU senior
Courtney Logan placed third in the event with a throw of 53.33 meters, the senior's second 53-meter throw in as many weeks.
Sophomore
Madelyn Lundberg now sits atop the WAC in the pole vault after jumping 4.03 meters to win the event.
Freshman
Bryson Benjamin made moves up the conference leaderboard by covering the 400-meter run in 48.27 seconds. Benjamin finished fifth and set a personal record by 0.49 seconds.
Senior
Shanice Lewis moved into second in the WAC with a long jump of 5.69 meters.
Freshman
Deshon Toney recorded the third-best discus throw in GCU history with a 45.58-meter toss.
Sophomore
Dora Filipovic ran the conference's second-fastest 400 on the year with a personal-best time of 55.01 to win the event. Filipovic then ran the first leg of the 1,600-meter relay that finished second.
The Lopes will send a small contingent to the Arizona Jim Click Multi's next weekend before returning to California for the UC San Diego Triton Invitational.
