The Grand Canyon track and field team will be split Friday and Saturday between the New Mexico Don Kirby Invitational and the Washington Husky Classic.
GCU distance athletes will attend the Husky Classic in Seattle while the rest of the competing athletes attend the Don Kirby Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M.
The Lopes are coming off a flashy weekend in which three school records were broken or tied, placing three GCU athletes in the top 75 in the country for their respective events.
Redshirt freshman
Trey Johnson won his second consecutive long jump event with a school record of 7.76 meters, which ties him for 17th in the country and first in the WAC.
Sophomore
Madelyn Lundberg tied the school record in the pole vault with a 4.02-meter jump, tying her for 50th in the nation and first in the WAC.
Senior
Chris Linnin Jr. continued his record-breaking ways with his second straight school record. The high jumper jumped 2.10 meters, tying him for 53rd in the country and first overall in the WAC.
GCU currently holds 10 WAC-leading marks heading into the final stretch before the WAC Indoor Championships in Nampa, Idaho, on Feb. 22-23.
