The Grand Canyon women's golf team returns to action this week at the Battle at the Rock tournament that is hosted by UC Riverside at Oak Quarry Golf Club.
The Lopes had a pair of top-three team finishes in the fall, finishing runner-up at the Rose City Collegiate Tournament in Oregon and third at the Pat Lesser-Harbottle Invitational in Washington.
GCU's appearance at the Battle at the Rock is the first of seven spring tournaments, with the final tournament being the WAC Championship. The defending conference champs will aim for a second consecutive WAC title and automatic berth into the NCAA Championship.
Last season at the Battle at the Rock, GCU finished seventh as a team with then-senior
Deanna Salvatori finishing fifth overall.
Courtney Vogel, who returns this season, played wellwith a 14
th-place finish, including a pair of par-or-better rounds.
UC Davis won the event in 2018 with a 10-over-par total of 874.
Vogel posted GCU's top scoring average in the fall, averaging 73.4 strokes per round.
Siripatsorn Patchana averaged 74.2 while
Carolina Sandstrom averaged 76.3.
