The Grand Canyon women's swimming and diving team fell to New Mexico State 176-109 in its final regular season meet of the season Saturday.
Emily Muteti earned a first-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.77 seconds. Muteti also finished second in the 100 butterfly in 56.21.
Roaia Mashaly was also a bright spot for the Lopes, winning the 200 freestyle (1:53.32) and finishing second in the 100 freestyle with a time of 53.40.
Diana Jaruseviciute finished first in the 200 individual medley, finishing in 2:11.34.
Marina McInelly collected three second-place finishes in the 100 breaststroke (1:03.41), 200 breaststroke (2:23.34) and 200 individual medley (2:14.30).
Hannah Barker finished second in the 200 backstroke (2:06.48) and third in the 200 IM with a time of 2:16.30.
Two more Lopes earned second-place finishes as
Maja Uduc finished second in the 1,000 freestyle (10:51.87) and
Brigit Van Der Vegte in the 100 backstroke (57.69).
GCU took second in the 200 medley relay as Van Der Vegte, McInelly, Muteti and
Kyra Forrest finished with a time of 1:45.05.
Robyn Edwards,
Salma Zaitoun, Jaruseviciute and Mashaly finished fourth (1:47.43).
Menna El-Midany won the 3-meter dive with a winning score of 300. El-Midany also finished third in the 1-meter dive with a score of 238.13.
GCU is back in action Feb. 27-Mar. 2 for the WAC Championships in Houston.
