FINAL RESULTS
LAKEWOOD, Wash. – The Grand Canyon women's golf team finished as the top Western Athletic Conference school with a fourth-place finish at the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational. GCU was led by
Deanna Salvatori with a fifth-place finish.
"I am proud of how we bounced back from a rough first day," said head coach
Lauren Giesecke. "We will continue to work on starting and finishing well in order to prepare for the final event of the fall season."
After struggling a bit the first day, the Lopes responded with a final round 303 total, just one shot behind the best round of the day (by tournament champion North Dakota State).
GCU's final rounds included Salvatori with a 72,
Courtney Vogel 74,
Leleaga Meredith 78,
Amy Ruelas 79 and
Siripatsorn Patchana 81.
Salvatori had the second best round of the day and finished in fifth place. Vogel had three birdies on the par 3's in the final round and finished in 12
th place. Patchana recorded another top-25, finishing in 23
rd. Ruelas finished in 57
th and Meredith finished in 59
th.
North Dakota State won the event with a 909 total, followed by UC Irvine at 921 and Sam Houston State at 924.
GCU was the top WAC program with a 926 total in fourth place. Utah Valley finished in fifth (927), UMKC in sixth (928) and Seattle in eighth (939).
Placing fourth of 14 teams, GCU now has three, fourth place finishes this fall.
The Lopes are back in action on Oct. 31 – Nov. 1 at the Rainbow Wahine Invitational in Wahiawa, Hawaii to conclude the fall season.
