FINAL RESULTS
WAHIAWA, Hawaii – The Grand Canyon women's golf team had its best tournament score in school history and nearly won the Rainbow Wahine Invitational, before settling for a runner-up finish to Ole Miss. The Lopes entire squad finished in the top-17, finishing with a school-record 864 (E) score, just three shots behind No. 48 Mississippi.

Lauren Giesecke. "We have worked very hard this entire semester and it showed in this event. The team showed their resiliency and competitive fire, something we have really been focusing on."
The previous 54-hole team record was set by the 2014-15 Lopes at the NM State Invite, as that Lopes squad shot an 875, +11 total. GCU bested the mark by 11 shots and in the process, nearly won the team title.
"I don't think they realized how good they can be collectively, and now they have opened new doors," added Giesecke. "We are very excited for the spring, and I have a feeling we are going to surprise a lot of teams."
Siripatsorn Patchana led the tournament during the final round and into the final nine before finishing in fifth-place. Patchana finished with a 214 total (-2), just one of six players under par.
Deanna Salvatori was consistent at the top for the Lopes, rebounding from an opening 75 to shoot two sub-par rounds. She finished with an even-par 216 with rounds of 75, 70, 71.
Courtney Vogel finished in 10
th place overall with rounds of 74-71-73.
Wendy Monfort finished in 14
th place with rounds of 74, 74, 72.
Amy Ruelas finished 17
th overall with rounds of 71, 76 and 74.
With just under nine holes to play, the Lopes were within two shots of the lead, but Ole Miss held off GCU, finishing the tournament as the only team under par at -3, an 861 total.
Medalist honors went to Sydney Colwill of Memphis, finishing with a 211 (-5) total. Colwill fired rounds of 69-69-73, the only player in the field to break 70 twice.
The final team standings saw No. 48 Ole Miss (861) in first-place, followed by GCU (864) in second, well ahead of third-place Sacramento State (875). No. 49 Memphis (885) was fourth, followed by Princeton and Toledo (892) tied for fifth.
GCU finishes its fall season in impressive style. The Lopes had three fourth place team finishes and a runner-up to conclude the fall. The spring season begins in February at the Battle at the Rock in Riverside.
