MIAMI – In the final fall tournament of the 2026 slate, Grand Canyon placed third out of 15 schools in the Pat Bradley Invitational at Miami Lakes Golf Club, showcasing yet another strong final round to earn its third top three placement of the season.
The Leadership and Design Invitational result is long in the mirror for a Lopes squad who has placed no worse than seventh since their opening tournament. GCU shot 20 over two days in Miami with winds reaching upwards to 40 miles per hour in gusts. Arkansas State won the tournament at 13 over, with Florida Gulf Coast at 16 over for second.
The wind proved costly for every team, but GCU weathered the wind the best after round one Monday. Their 5 over first round was the field's best, registering 18 birdies and an eagle. Sophomore
Rosie Maguire had seven of those 15 birdies herself, going 2 over in the first round.
Sophomore Clara Dürr had the best first round for the Lopes, carding a 1 under with four birdies and an eagle.
With wind picking up as the day went on, GCU carded a 12 over second round to end Monday in second place at 17 over.
Sophomore
Alexis Vakasiuola, who finished top 20 in each of her prior four tournaments played, paced the squad again with a 3 over total, shooting 1 over in the final round with two birdies and 13 pars. Vakasioula tied for sixth, her second-best finish of the fall with a 73-73-73 card.
Vakasiuola's 11 birdies tied for third most in the field, while her strength on par 5's showed at 4.25 scoring average, best in the field.
Maguire had the best final round score at even par, moving up eight spots to a tie for 12th finish. Maguire had 12 birdies (second most) and tied with Vakasioula on par 4 scoring (4.09).
Four Lopes finished in the top 30, including Dürr in a tie for 29th. Her and junior
Allie Justiz, who tied the single round program record last week, matched Dürr's score and had the most pars among all golfers with 34.
Freshman
Gianna Singh tied for 51st at 14 over, while sophomore
Honor Johnson tied for 70th (19 over) as an individual.
GCU will resume its season in the spring, beginning in Tucson February 8-9 in the Tucson Thunderbird Invitational.
