PHOENIX – The Grand Canyon women's golf team heads to the Pat Lesser-Harbottle Invitational on October 16-17. Seattle hosts the tournament held at Tacoma Country and Golf Club in Lakewood, Wash.
Last week the Lopes placed 12
th in a strong field at the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational, hosted by Kentucky in Lexington.
Deanna Salvatori led GCU with a 15
th place finish with rounds of 74, 75 and 73.
Courtney Vogel and
Siripatsorn Patchana both finished in the top-50.
Last year at the Pat Lesser-Harbottle, GCU finished in 14
th place with Salvatori finishing in the top-40. Salvatori,
Amy Ruelas and
Leleaga Meredith were each in the field last season and will return this year, joining Patchana and Vogel.
According to the Tacoma Country and Golf Club website, it is among the premier private country clubs in the northwest.
Amenities of the club include a world-class 18-hole championship golf course complete with a large all-grass driving range, sand traps, chipping and putting greens and a practice hole where golfers can hone their short game. In addition to golf, the club has an Olympic-size swimming pool, a lakeside boat dock with swimming area, tennis courts and a juniors program geared toward introducing children to these sporting activities.
The 16-team field includes host Seattle, GCU, Utah Valley, Houston Baptist, Montana, Sam Houston State, British Colombia, Washington (individuals), Boise State, North Dakota State, Idaho State, Weber State, UMKC, Gonzaga, UC Irvine and CSUN.
This is the fourth of five fall tournaments for the Lopes. GCU will finish its fall season at the Rainbow Wahine Invitational on Oct. 31- Nov 1.
