The Grand Canyon University women's golf team played the opening two rounds of the Challenge at Onion Creek, standing in seventh place with a total of 39-over 599 through 36 holes on the par-70 course. The tournament is being hosted by Texas State at the Onion Creek Golf Club in Austin, Texas.
Texas Tech is in first with a 36-hole total of 22-over 582, one stroke ahead of Kansas. The top-four teams are separated by only three strokes, as Miami carded a 24-over 584 for third and host Texas State is in fourth at 35-over 585.
As a team, GCU is tied with Texas State for fourth-most among the tournament field with 23 birdies. Kansas leads with 27. GCU led the tournament with a three-over score on Par 5 holes.
For the 'Lopes,
Charlotte Jaengkit stands in a tie for third place with a two-over 142. Jaengkit collected a team-best 10 birdies on the day. Her birdie total is also tied for the most among all competitors in the tournament.
Phoeba Cipa is tied for 19
th place after carding an eight-over 148 and posting the second-best Par 5 scoring at two-under.
Emily Kaye stands in a tie for 36
th with a two round total of 14-over 154, while teammate
Ali Thompson is just one stroke behind and tied for 39
th place. Thompson leads the field with a three-under score on Par 5 holes.
