The Grand Canyon University women’s golf team is tied for first after the first round of the Super San Diego Championship at the Riverwalk Golf Course in San Diego, Calif.
The Antelopes shot an opening round 27-over 315 and are currently tied with Sonoma State. CSU San Marcos is one shot back in third place, while host Point Loma is in fourth with a 325.
GCU’s
Kelcey Tate is the top-placed ‘Lope after carding a 3-over 75. She had a round-high five birdies and shot 3-under on the Par 5’s.
Teammate
Charlotte Jaengkit is tied for eighth after her 6-over 78.
Eryn Olson is one shot behind Jaengkit and is tied for 10
th overall.
As a team, GCU leads the field with nine birdies.
The final round of the Super San Diego Championship will be played tomorrow on the Par-72 Riverwalk course. The tournament is the first for the women this spring season. GCU won three of five Fall tournaments they played in to begin the 2012-13 campaign.
