'Lopes Back in Action at Red Rocks Invitational

The Grand Canyon University women’s golf team heads to Sedona, Ariz. for Northern Arizona’s Red Rocks Invitational March 3-4 at the Oakcreek Country Club.
The two-round tournament will begin with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. on Saturday and the final round will take off at 8 a.m. on Sunday. Oakcreek Country Club is a par 72 course measuring 6,084 yards of play.
The Antelopes placed seventh of 18 teams in the predominantly Division I field at last year’s Red Rocks Invitational. Brittany Penny led the team with a 14th-place finish after carding a 157 tournament total, 13-over par.
This is GCU’s first tournament back from a four week break after placing second at the Super San Diego Championship Feb. 6-7 in San Diego, Calif. They finished behind Division I Cal Poly. Penny led the ‘Lopes with a fifth-place individual finish.
So far this season, Grand Canyon has two team tournament titles, two runner-up finishes, and two third-place finishes.
