'Lopes in Fifth After Round One of Regional Tournament

The Grand Canyon University women’s golf team is tied for fifth with a 321 team total (+33) after the first round of the NCAA Super Regional tournament in Canyon, Texas.
GCU is tied with Central Oklahoma University and Tarleton State University in first with a 307 (+19). California State at Monterey Bay is tied for second with St. Edward’s University, both carded a 30-over-par 318. Western Washington University is in fourth, just one stroke ahead of the ‘Lopes with 320.
Senior Georgina Dunn (Peterborough, England , King's School (N. Mexico State), N. Mexico State) is leading Grand Canyon with a five-over-par 77 to tie for the sixth place slot. Dunn is just four strokes behind the leader, Tarleton State’s Carla Cooper who carded a one-over 73.
Freshman Tiffany Hewetson (Brighton, England, Longhell) is tied for 12th with a seven-over-par 79 and junior Ashley Mooney (Port Saint Lucie, FL, Cheista McAuliffe (Daytona State College)) is eight-over to tie for 17th overall.
Tournament play will continue tomorrow morning at the Tascosa Golf Club in Canyon, Texas with tee times starting at 10:00 a.m. CDT.
