The No. 13 Grand Canyon University wrestling team ran their win streak to seven tonight, defeating Cal Baptist, 28-10, at Van Dyne Gym in Riverside Calif.
GCU knocked off No. 8 San Francisco State, 28-9, earlier in the day.
The Antelopes followed a similar formula to their dual win earlier in the day, capturing seven of 10 matches.
After dropping the opening match, the Antelopes responded by winning the next seven contests.
Mike Fucci, subbing for All-American
Victor Carazo, got the ‘Lopes on the scoreboard with a 12-0 win at 174 pounds. Fucci led 3-0 after one period, 6-0 after two and just missed a pin in the third.
Ryan Becerra jumped out to a 5-1 lead after two periods in the 184-pound tilt. The Lancers’ Caleb Gerl closed the gap to 5-4 with a takedown with 1:06 remaining in the match. Becerra regrouped and scored two points on a reversal 22 seconds later to secure the win. The victory improved his record to 19-9 and gave him his school record 61
st win.
Eli Arizmendez, wrestling at 197, improved his record to 13-0 with a pin over Cal Baptist’s Anthony Meza at 4:32. It was his fourth win by fall this season.
The heavyweights produced what would be the tightest match of the evening. GCU’s
Peter Anguiano led 3-1 in the third before the Lancers’ Alex Evers takedown with one second remaining sent the match into overtime. The contest would extend four overtimes before Anguiano was awarded a point for riding time, extending his win streak to seven.
Madison Gambrell continued his winning ways for the day, taking a 6-4 decision at 125 to improve his record to 2-3.

Todd Wilcox cruised to his eighth win in a row, defeating Landon Saldana, 11-4. The win was his 22
nd of the season, tying Carazo for the team high.
Kyle Wilson closed out the scoring for GCU, winning by fall at 3:40. It was his first win by fall this season.
With the two wins today, GCU improved to 11-4 in duals this season.
The Antelopes return to action on Jan. 26 with a dual against Colorado State-Pueblo in Pueblo, Colo.
