Junior finishes 7th overall
AMARILLO, Tex. -- Grand Canyon University junior Georgina Dunn (Peterborough, England , King's School) has qualified for the NCAA Division II Women’s Golf Championships to be held in Mesa, Ariz. at Longbow Golf Club.
Dunn shot a final round 8-over-par 80 and finished seventh in NCAA Super Region 4 at Tascoso Country Club Tuesday. The top three teams and top three individuals not on the top three teams advanced to the NCAA Championships to be held May 12-15.
Dunn finished the tournament with a 232 (77-75-80) and 16-over-par. CSU Monterey Bay’s Darcy Lake won the event with a 224. Tarleton State (922), CSU Monterey Bay (952) and Sonoma State (954) advanced as teams.
Dunn is the second GCU player to qualify for the championships. Jessica McKay made the tournament in 2008 and placed 26th.
As a team, GCU (966) finished eighth.
Senior Jennifer Lutz (Mesa, Ariz., Mesa) tied for 16th at 24-over-par (82-79-79 -- 240). Freshman Alexandra Malmsjo (Stockholm, Sweden, Saltsjobaden) tied for 31st at 32-over-par (80-87-81 -- 248). Junior Jacqueline Sneddon (Meigle, Scotland, Madras College) tied for 35th at 34-over-par (86-82-82 -- 250) and junior Brittany Anderson (Goodyear, Ariz., Estrella Foothills) tied for 42nd at 38-over-par (84-85-85 -- 254).
