'Lopes defeat nine Division I teams
SEDONA -- Grand Canyon finished eighth at the Red Rocks Invitational at Oak Creek Country Club in Sedona Sunday.
Sixteen of the 18 teams in the tournament were Division I programs. GCU improved four spots from Saturday's first round and defeated nine D-I schools and the only other D-II school in the tournament.
GCU shot a 650 (332-318) for the two days.
Jennifer Lutz (Mesa, Ariz./Mesa/Mesa CC) and Georgina Dunn (Peterborough, England/King's School/New Mexico State) each shot a 3-over par 75 during Sunday's final round. Lutz finished the two-round event 10th with a score of 12-over-par (156). Dunn was 20th (160).
Brittany Anderson (Goodyear, Ariz./Estrella Foothills) finished tied for 52nd (84-83 -- 167) and Jacqueline Sneddon (Meigle, Scotland/Madras College/Elmwood College) and Alexandra Malmsjo (Stockholm, Sweden/Saltsjobaden) tied for 60th at 25-over-par.
Portland's Paige Rachor shot an even-par 72 Sunday and finished five-over-par to win the event. Host Northern Arizona won the event with rounds of 312 and 301 (37-over-par).
