GCU Invitational gets underway Monday

Grand Canyon hosts the seventh annual Grand Canyon Invitational at Palm Valley Golf Club Monday.
The Lady Lopes are one of 18 teams participating in the two-day 36-hole event. Teams play a practice round Sunday.
Grand Canyon is looking for a solid performance and move up the West Region rankings. Currently, GCU is No. 12. The top 10 qualifiy for the region tournament. Nine of the 11 teams ahead of the Lopes are in the invitational.
The field includes 2008 runner-up St. Edward's along with former champions Tarleton State (2007), Western Washington (2005, 2006) and Western New Mexico (2004).
