Nick Green completed his second season as a member of the GCU track and field coaching staff for 2020-21, serving as the throws coach.

In 2021, Green coached Jesse Newman to the NCAA West Preliminary round in javelin. He also coached to three individual conference titles including Samaria McDonald, Jorden Okyere, and Newman. McDonald and Okyere broke multiple school records during the 2021 outdoor season including hammer, discus, and shot put.

In the 2020 indoor season, Green coached Jorden Okyere and Moataz Hassan to break seven combined GCU throwing records. Four of his male throwers lead the GCU top ten list in shot put, while all four also land among the top ten for weight throw. Two of his female throwers have also landed themselves on the GCU top ten lists for both shot put and weight throw.

Previously, Green had the same position at Queens University of Charlotte. Over his year with the Royals, he coached Ricko Meckes to the 2019 NCAA Division II National Championship title in the men’s javelin throw. Green also helped shot-put thrower Martin Knauer receive Second Team All American honors and led three total athletes to national championship qualifications.

In 2019, Green helped the Royals men’s squad to indoor and outdoor South Atlantic Conference titles while leading the women’s indoor team to the crown.

Green also served as the strength and conditioning assistant coach for track and field at Washington & Lee University (Lexington, Virginia) and as the assistant coach at both Heidelberg University (Tiffin, Ohio) and Ohio Dominican University (Columbus, Ohio). At Washington & Lee, Green was a part of a staff that won both the indoor and outdoor Old Dominion Athletic Conference titles on the men’s side.

At Heidelberg, Green helped the pair of Madison Haasz and Tristen Durr become NCAA Division III All-Americans and National Qualifiers.

During his student-athlete days, Green attended Ohio Dominican University in Columbus, Ohio, 90 minutes from his hometown of Wapakoneta. Green holds the program’s shot-put record (16. 11 meters) and ranks second in the hammer throw (50.72m).
