Grand Canyon headed to Flagstaff this weekend for the third time this indoor season for the Ron Mann Classic. The Lopes sent 26 athletes and achieved multiple personal records.
Manny Joseph, the graduate transfer from Syracuse, had an impressive showing in the 60-meter hurdles. Joseph finished second in the event with a personal-best time of 7.87 seconds.
GCU freshman AJ Robinson also had a strong showing in the 60 and 200 dashes. Robinson set a personal record for both events, finishing the 60 in 6.86 and the 200 in 21.73.
An area where the Lopes have seen great improvement has been in the mile run. Graduate Jagger Zlotoff had a strong showing, winning the event wtih an altitude-adjusted mile of 4 minutes, 7.99 seconds.

Misael Colon finished first by clearing 5 meters (16 feet, 5 inches).
In the long jump, senior
John Twedt of Bellingham, Washington, finished in the top five with a jump of 7.13 meters (23 feet, 4 3/4 inches).
The Lopes look ahead to next week's trip to the UNM Collegiate Classic in Albuquerque, New Mexico. They will go up against a plethora of elite teams such as Alabama, Ole Miss and Texas Tech as they get closer to the Mountain West Indoor Championships.
