TACOMA, Wash. – Competing for the second time in the state of Washington this month, Grand Canyon finished two rounds of the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational in seventh place out of 15 schools Monday with a top-three placement well in reach heading into Tuesday's final 18 holes.
News and notes
- Three Lopes golfers are in the top 20, led by sophomore Allie Justiz at 1 over par in a tie for 12th. Justiz shot even par with a team-high five birdies in the first round and went 1 over in her second round, finishing Monday with eight birdies.
- GCU freshman Alexis Vakasiuola is one shot back of Justiz and sits in a tie for 15th, while junior teammate Jess Haines is 3 over and tied for 19th.
- The Lopes notched 112 pars, the second most in the 15-team field. Vakasiuola lead the 84-golfer field with 27 pars for the tournament.

Lena Tremouille shot 2 over to put the squad in the top five after 18 holes. Justiz was 2 over through her first 12 holes before ending her round with three birdies and a 2-under scorecard over her final six holes.

Honor Johnson matched Maguire's score as an individual entry.
GCU registered 15 birdies over the first round and nine birdies over the second round with Justiz leading the charge in the afternoon. Maguire's day ended with two birdies over her final three holes while Vakasiuola carded 14 consecutive pars to close her second round.
The Lopes sit only four strokes back of third-place British Columbia with five teams grouped between 4-over and 11-over scores.
Third and final round play begins Tuesday at 8 a.m.
