Grand Canyon senior sprinter
Justin Raines and head coach Tom Flood took home major WAC honors as the conference's WAC Indoor Men's Athlete of the Year and WAC Indoor Men's Coach of the Year, respectively.
For Raines, it adds to a increasingly lengthy resume. The Tarleton State transfer claimed two WAC individual championships last week in the 60- and 200-meter runs to help lead the Lopes men to the WAC title.
He was named as a qualifier in the 200 for the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships in Virginia Beach, Virginia, next weekend.
For Flood, it's nothing new as he adds a 25th WAC Coach of the Year honor to his trophy case. Specifically, it is Flood's eighth Coach of the Year accolade for men's indoor.
Flood helped lead GCU to the eighth WAC men's indoor championship in the Lopes' last nine tries.
There is little break for the track and field program, as the Lopes turn their attention to the outdoor season that begins on Saturday in Tucson.
