Grand Canyon closed an exhilarating home meet with a 103–102 victory over New Mexico State, clinching the win by finishing first in the decisive women's 200-yard freestyle relay.
Trailing by eight points entering the final event, the Lopes relay of Sara Mose, Katelyn Huffman, Taylor Stasny and Sara Mendoza took first with a time of 1:32.22.
The Lopes' A relay of Mose, Stasny, Paula Martinez Moreno and Elisa Corradi broke the pool record with a time of 1:31.29.
Senior Elisa Corradi highlighted the meet with three standout swims, including a new pool record in the 400-yard individual medley (4:21.76). Corradi also captured wins in the 200-yard individual medley (2:01.66) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:17.46), pacing the Lopes with her versatility.
Freshman Sara Mose continued her breakout season with multiple record-breaking performances. Mose broke the pool record in the 50-yard freestyle with a 22.69. She added victories in the 100 freestyle (50.66) and contributed to both the 200 freestyle relay and 400 medley relay squads, underscoring her growing impact across GCU's lineup.
Fellow freshman Sara Mendoza continued her strong start with a runner-up finish in the 100 freestyle (51.18) and another top swim in the 200 freestyle.
Senior Krisalyn Henderson also impressed with one of her best performances of the season, posting a 52.18 in the 100 freestyle.
On the men's side, Carter Dooling put together strong efforts across his events, recording a 2:02.05 in the 200 breaststroke. He also competed in the 100 freestyle (48.12) and anchored the 400 freestyle relay with a 47.00 split. The senior also placed first in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 55.15 seconds.
Alex Volkov added key performances in the 100 butterfly (48.52), 50 freestyle (20.61), 100 butterfly (48.52), and 100 backstroke (48.58), while Eli Cohen contributed steady times of 45.13 in the 100 freestyle, 49.83 in the 100 butterfly, and a 45.78 split on the 400 freestyle relay.
