The Grand Canyon men's and women's swimming and diving teams were recognized by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America as Scholar All-America Teams for their success in the classroom during this academic year.
To qualify for this recognition, teams had to earn a cumulative grade point average of 3.0.
"This accomplishment is a testament to the culture on your campus and your pool deck," CSCAA Executive Director Samantha Barany said. "I was especially thrilled to share this news, as Coach
Steve Schaffer is a member of the CSCAA board. His leadership is invaluable in the boardroom and he is among the most respected coaches on the deck. So, it is no surprise to see the GCU team earn this honor year after year."
In addition to the team, multiple Lopes were recognized as 2024 Individual Scholar All-Americans. To qualify for First-Team Scholar All-America, student-athletes must have earned a GPA of 3.5 or higher and participated in their national championship. Second-Team selections must have also earned a 3.5 GPA or higher and met a "B" time standard for the national championship or qualified for a diving zone qualification meet.
