AZUSA, Calif. – Grand Canyon track and field hurdler
Daviciea McCartney set a GCU record this weekend at the Bryan Clay Invitational.
McCartney, a senior from Mesquite, Texas, ra a school-record time of 50.60 seconds in the 400-meter hurdles. That mark takes down a 6-year-old record. McCartney also had the program's second-fastest 110 hurdles time at 14.08 seconds, even against a headwind.
GCU sophomore
Germain Lemaitre built on his already impressive conference-leading time in the 800 with a new leading time of 1 minute, 50.08 seconds.
On the distance side of the meet, Lopes senior
Cannon Angotti ran the second-fastest time 1,500 time (14:19.09) in school history.
In the first steeplechase of her season, GCU freshman
Gretchen Kuffel closed with a time of 10:44.04.
In a loaded meet, Lopes sophomore
Ben Moffett won the javelin throw with a 218-foot toss.
In the women's javelin, GCU freshman
Sophia Saldutto was less than a foot off her school record that she set earlier this season.
Lopes senior
Erin Brown also placed third among 85 participants in the 200 with a time of 20.80 seconds.
