Lopes now prepare for WAC Championships in Pharr, Texas

Grand Canyon sophomore Jonathan Rom was named WAC Men's Swimmer of the Week after winning four events when the Lopes defeated reigning conference champion UNLV in the final home meet of the season.

The Israel native won the 100-yard breaststroke (54.6 seconds), 200 breaststroke (1 minute, 57.23 seconds) and the 200 individual medley (1:49.37) on Saturday in Phoenix. In addition, Rom was part of the Lopes' first-place finish in the 200 medley relay, which took first at 1:28.60.

Rom will look toward the WAC Championships, which run Feb. 28 to March 2 in Pharr, Texas. Last season, the Lopes men finished second in the conference meet and look to build on that performance this season.
