A Phoenix-filled 2025 season schedule has been announced by Grand Canyon head coach
Derek Siddiqui as the Lopes look to capture one final WAC men's tennis title this spring.
GCU will host 16 matches and 15 Division I opponents at GCU Tennis Facility, meaning Lopes fans will have plenty of opportunities to watch the new-look squad that will vie for a sixth WAC championship.
Just five road matches are on the schedule as of now, but the away slate includes quality opponents such as 2024 NCAA tournament qualifier UC Irvine,as well as San Diego State and Santa Clara.

"We have a very tough schedule this year, especially our matches on the road," Siddiqui said. "Facing some teams that have been to the tournament or have recently been top-60 teams on the road will be a great challenge for us this season."
The season will begin in mid-January when the Lopes play host to New Mexico State on Jan. 17 and LMU on Jan. 19. The regular season will conclude almost three months later at UTSA on April 12.
The WAC Tournament will be played April 17-19 at Arlington Tennis Center in Arlington, Texas, home of UT Aringlton. The Mavericks beat GCUÂ 4-3 in last year's WAC title match.
The trip to Texas on April 12 will be the first for the Lopes, as voting members of the WAC decided against a conference season. This means GCU will only play one conference opponent (Seattle U) during the regular season, but it will not be counted as a conference match.
WAC Tournament seeding will be based o each team's ITA ranking, making strength of schedule an important factor. There are only four active members for men's tennis in the WAC this season.
The seven Lopes on the fall roster will be joined by two incoming players in January. Freshman Diordan Macababbad of England and upperclassman Matteo Lugari of Italy will be joining the team.
"Adding these two guys will give us a whole other level of depth," Siddiqui said. "I expect it to bring added competitiveness to this group as well. Only six guys can play singles, and six guys can play doubles, I am excited to see who steps up."
Again, a heavy home schedule is ahead for the Lopes. WAC opponent Seattle U, 2024 NCAA tournament team DePaul and many other talented West Coast programs will travel to Phoenix in 2025.
"Playing at home should mean we are the more comfortable team," Siddiqui said. "Our guys are definitely excited to play at home this often, but we still will have to go out and get the job done."
