The Grand Canyon women's tennis team swept the first WAC weekly awards of the season.

Natasha Puehse was named WAC Singles Player of the Week and teamed up with senior
Santa Strombacha to earn WAC Doubles Players of the Week honors.

Puehse started the 2024 season with three straight wins at the No. 1 singles position. Against Missouri in the season opener Puehse clinched the team win with a 6-1, 5-7, 6-3 win. She followed that up with a pair of straight set wins over UC Davis and UC San Diego.

Puehse and Strombacha teamed up in doubles with a pair of wins to start the season. After a close 7-5 loss to open the season against Missouri, the No. 1 GCU pair defeated opponents from UC Davis 6-0 and UC San Diego 6-1. The Lopes went on to take the doubles point against the Aggies and Tritons and win 7-0.

The Lopes are in the midst of a nine match homestand to start the 2024 season. GCU will host Arizona on Tuesday at 3 p.m and Fresno State on Jan. 21 at 2 p.m. at GCU Tennis Facility.
