Christie-Galloway's incredible season comes to end

Graduate set to student-coach for Lopes in 2023-24 season
The Grand Canyon track and field season came to a close Wednesday evening as Lopes hurdler Keira Christie-Galloway raced in the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Austin.Β
Christie-Galloway did not finish her race after falling during the second hurdle in the women's 100-meter hurdle event in Austin, Texas.Β
"It's not the ending we were hoping for or expecting, but track and field can be a very cruel sport," GCU head coach Tom Flood said.
The graduate student's season was one to remember. In her one season with the Lopes, Christie-Galloway broke the 60-meter hurdles school record along with the 100-meterΒ hurdles school record and won both events at the WAC Championships. Additionally, the native of Ottawa, Canada, became the first GCU hurdler to go to the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships after advancing through the NCAA West regional.
"Kiwi (Christie-Galloway) had an incredible season and will continue to be an amazing ambassador for our GCU track and field family later this summerΒ representing Canada at the world level and next season as a student-coach," Flood said.Β
The Lopes will continue to build off this season full of records and hope to continue their successΒ next season.Β
