The Grand Canyon women's tennis team will head to Malibu, California, to take on Pepperdine in the first round of the NCAA tournament on Friday.
Â
The Lopes will face the No. 9 Waves after winning the WAC Tournament by taking down the top two seeds and overcoming a 3-1 deficit against Tarleton in the final. GCU is dancing for the second time in program history after facing UCLA in 2021.
Â
GCU is joined in the regional field by UNLV and USC, who will face off at 10 a.m. on Friday. The Lopes are led by first-year head coach
Katarina Adamovic, who led Oklahoma State to the 2016 national championship match as a player.
Â
For the Lopes, only senior
Natasha Puehse has NCAA tournament experience. The four-year starter was at the No. 1 singles and doubles positions against the Bruins in 2021.
Â
This will be the first-ever meeting between GCU and Pepperdine.
