Since the spring season began Feb. 6 in the Valley Invitational, the Grand Canyon women's golf team has placed among the top three in all four of its events and looks to extend that streak in the Fresno State Classic/
The tournament is hosted by Fresno State at San Joaquin Country Club in Fresno, California. The course is a par 72 at 6,074 yards. Rounds 1 and 2 are played Monday with the third and final round on Tuesday morning.
GCU enters the week ranked No. 100 in the most recent Golfstat rankings. The tournament's 15-team field includes No. 62 Nevada, No. 73 Xavier and No. 86 Long Beach State. The Lopes are one of two WAC teams competing, along with Utah Valley.
The Lopes are coming off a second-place showing at the Red Rocks Invitational in Sedona, Arizona, on March 18. GCU roared back after the first round, in which it was tied for 11th, and finished the tournament in second place and four shots back of champion Navy.
GCU will field
Constanza Guerrero,
Ryan Flynn,
Carmen Belmonte,
Carly Strole and
Becca Tschetter in Fresno. Those five all placed in the top 30 in Sedona with Guerrero leading the group at 4 over par, tying her for 11th place.
