The Grand Canyon men's and women's track and field teams have high expectations for the 2023-2024 indoor season with the schedule that it unveiled Tuesday.
The Lopes aim to maintain their dominant streak, as they strive for an eighth consecutive WAC men's indoor championship while preparing the GCU women's team to return to 2022 championship form. The Lopes women have won five of the past seven WAC indoor titles.
GCU heads to Spokane, Washington, to open the indoor season on Dec. 9 for the second December meet in program history. The team will have the opportunity to put fast times on the board before the holidays.
The Lopes will spend plenty of the indoor season at Northern Arizona and New Mexico with two-thirds of the meets taking place in Albuquerque and Flagstaff. The Lopes will return to Spokane with Spokane Sports hosting the Riverfront Invitational and Multi on Feb. 1-3.
Both meets in Spokane will take place at The Podium, a 1-year-old facility. The Lopes will look forward to returning because the GCU men secured its seventh consecutive WAC Indoor Track and Field Championships title the last time they were there.
With some of the GCU stars from last season graduating, the Lopes have revamped the roster and expect to continue the recent years' successes.
