"I'm thrilled to have Tim joining our track and field coaching staff," GCU head coach
Tom Flood said. "Our team just got a whole better with his addition and our athletes will love him."
O'Neil also coached 2022 World Indoor Championships bronze medalist Jarret Eaton in the 60-meter hurdles and Freddie Crittenden, this year's World Outdoor Championships' fourth-place finisher in the 110-meter hurdles.
"Tim brings a wealth of knowledge in a lot of event areas but will mainly focus on the multi, hurdles and high jump with us," Flood said.

In addition, he has had six athletes qualify for the Olympic games and World Indoor/Outdoor Championships. as well as three athletes who have made appearances in the Diamond League finals (two hurdlers in 2019, one this year). Phoenix Track Club has 12 national champions.
"I've known Tim since high school and have been trying to add him to our staff for a while," Flood said. "I am glad the timing was finally perfect."
The Lopes have also added two volunteer coaches in former GCU standouts
Mariano Hernandez and
Ethan Harris.
Hernandez was last year's winner of the WAC Stan Bates Award, the most prestigious honor in the conference. In addition, Hernandez holds school records as a member of the outdoor 400-meter relay and 1,600-meter relay.
In his time as a Lope, Harris was an NCAA All-American high jumper. Harris is the school record-holder for the indoor and outdoor high jump marks.
"I feel truly blessed in having former outstanding GCU track and field student-athletes in both Mariano and Ethan joining my coaching staff," Flood said. "They both have tremendous work ethic and are incredible human beings."
The Lopes head to Spokane, Washington, to open the indoor season on Dec. 9.
