Grand Canyon announced the hiring of
Daniel Fecteau as the newest diving head coach on Tuesday.Â
Â
Fecteau

spent the past three years at Princeton, most recently as the interim head coach for Tigers diving last season. Prior to entering that role, he was the diving assistant coach for two seasons.
Â
"I want to thankÂ
Steve Schaffer and the administration for this opportunity to lead the Grand Canyon diving program," Fecteau said of the swimming and diving team's head coach. "I am honored and grateful to be joining and working with a wonderful staff and team."
Â
Fecteau led nine Tigers to the "A" finals in the Ivy League Championships highlighted with second-, third-, fourth-, seventh- and ninth-place finishes in the men's 3-meter competition. He coached four men to the NCAA Zone A Championships, where all of them qualified for the NCAA Championships. At the NCAA Championships, Joe Victor finished 16th in the finals, becoming Princeton's first NCAA All-American since 2004.
On the women's side, Maddie Seltzer placed 16th on the 1- and 3-meter boards and took 13th in platform diving at NCAA Zone A Championships, making her the only female freshman to reach the final in all three events.Â
Â
Fecteau was a diver at Louisville, where he received his bachelor's degree in Sport Administration in 2019. He left his mark on the Cardinals after setting the program's platform record (350.70 points) and was honored as the ACC Diver of the Week during his final season. Fecteau also qualified for the ACC Championship finals all four years and was a four-time NCAA Zones qualifier. He was named to the All-ACC Academic Team and the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and also was awarded the ACC Top Six honor for community service in 2017.
Â
As a student-athlete, Fecteau did not waste any time passing on his diving knowledge. He spent four years as the Planview Swim Center diving team's head coach in congruence with being a student-athlete at Louisville and led them to an undefeated record and won four straight Louisville Swim Association championships.
Â
"We are thrilled to have Daniel joining our staff," Schaffer said. "He impressed us with his energy and desire to continue to build our diving program and invest in our athletes. He brings great experience, both as a diver for Louisville and as a coach at Princeton. We look forward to what he will accomplish here."
Â
In addition to his coaching and diving experience, Fecteau is a USA Diving Safety certified coach and is American Red Cross certified as a lifeguard, as well as first aid, CPR and with an automated external defibrillator (AED).
Â
"As a coach, I will encourage and develop the character and confidence of the student-athletes, in and out of the pool," Fecteau said. "I look forward to the next chapter of growth within the WAC and on the national stage. Lopes Up!"
Fecteau will begin his work with the Lopes on Aug. 15.
