Grand Canyon junior
Matthew Braley earned his first WAC Golfer of the Week award after his performance at this week's GCU Invitational.
Braley, a junior from Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, led the Lopes to a win at their GCU Invitational by placing third individually with an 8-under-par 205. He opened the tournament with a pair of 5-under-par rounds of 66 to move to the top of the leaderboard.
Braley's 2-over-par 73 in the third round was strong enough to secure a top-3 finish and allow GCU to clinch the team title for the first time. The Lopes' 18-under-par 834 was four strokes ahead of runner-up Fresno State in a 23-team field.
The Lopes are back in action on Monday and Tuesday, when they compete in the Duck Invitational at the Eugene Country Club in Eugene, Oregon.
