The Grand Canyon men's and women's swimming teams concluded their season at the CSCAA National Invitational at Elkhart Health & Aquatics on Saturday night. The men finished their season with a fourth-place finish with 535.5 points, while the women placed ninth in the team standings with 337.5 points.
Freshman
Maria Brunlehner set another GCU record, her second of this meet, in the 100-yard individual Medley. The Mombasa, Kenya native swam a time of 56.38 for a 12
th place finish overall.
Senior
Robyn Edwards rounds out her career with bronze medal in the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:56.95.
Freshman
Aleksandra Wegrzynowska finished first in the 200-yard butterfly "B" final with a time of 2:01.85.
On the men's side, senior
Samuel McKenzie finished second in the 100 individual medley with a time of 48.75. Sophomore
Jack Armstrong joined him on the podium in third place posting a time of 49.25.
In the "B" final of the 100 individual medley,
Griffin McKean finished first in the "B" final with a time of 50.14 while
Dylan Nasser finished third posting a time of 50.36 time.
McKean also finished ninth with a time of 1:47.50 in the 200-yard butterfly while teammate
Adrian Curbelo Tejera swam a time of 1:49.13 and placed 15
th overall.
Florent Janin finished 13
th overall in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 44.12.
Juniors
Mikhail Lyubavskiy finished ninth in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 9:26.62 and 12
th posting a time of 15:48.59 in the 1,650-yard freestyle. Teammate
A.J. Sheppard placed 22
nd (9:51.87) in the 1,000 and 32
nd (16:38.72) in the 1,650 freestyle.
Armstrong, Nasser, Janin and McKenzie swam a podium finish in the 400-yard medley relay with a time of 2:54.50 for third place to end the meet.
