Jeremy Tuttle is joining the Grand Canyon track and field program as an assistant coach for throws, Lopes head coach Tom Flood announced.
Most recently on the coaching staff at Louisiana-Monroe, Tuttle was a thrower at LSU and ranks in the program's top 10 in the javelin, weight throw and hammer throw.
"I am thrilled with the hiring of Jeremy to my track and field staff," Flood said. "He is an up-and-coming young coach who is very knowledgeable and has already had a lot of success at ULM."
Tuttle spent the last three years with the Warhawks program. ULM sent one male and one female thrower to the NCAA East Regionals this year.
"I am excited about joining the GCU track program," Tuttle said. "The throws group is a great group, and I am looking forward to continuing their development."
GCU's throws group had many highlights last year. Phoenix native and Arizona transferΒ Israel OloyedeΒ was the WAC indoor champion in the weight throw and recorded the nation's top mark last season. In the outdoor season, sophomore Marten Gasparini set a school record in javelin and qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Championships. The Lopes also sent junior Samaria McDonald to the NCAA West Regional for the hammer throw.
Tuttle is a native of Sierra Vista, Arizona, and has had coaching stops at Central Arizona (2019) and Ottawa (2018).
As a thrower at LSU from 2012 to 2015, Tuttle qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Championships three times in the javelin and hammer throws. He ended his career in the top 10 of the Tigers' record books in three events: fourth in hammer, ninthΒ in javelin and 10thΒ in weight throw.
"I look forward to watching the continued growth of our throws group and their school record-setting performances under Jeremy's guidance," Flood said.
