Okyere, Rayson earn awards in season debut

Rayson, named WAC Track Athlete of Week; Okyere earns WAC Field Athlete of Week
In the Lopes' indoor season debut meet in Flagstaff, Grand Canyon track and field's Atena Rayson and Jorden Okyere earned WAC Athlete of the Week honors.
Rayson, a freshman from Montego Bay, Jamaica, finished first in the 60-meter dash at the Friday Night Axe 'Em at Northern Arizona. She left her competition with a 0.3-second gap, marking a time of 7.37 seconds, which is fastest in the WAC this season.
Okyere, a senior from Phoenix, placed within the top five of two events on Friday. He placed third in the shot put with a 17.71-meter mark and placed fourth in weight throw by marking 17.82 meters. His performance puts him at fir,st place in the WAC, according to www.tfrrs.com.
The Lopes' team will split this week for meets in Flagstaff and Albuquerque.
