Lopes dual Eagles on Saturday to open 2022
The Grand Canyon swimming and diving teams host Concordia Irvine at Fr. Edward A. Reese Aquatic Center. The one-day meet will begin at 1 p.m. (Phoenix time). Arizona Christian and Ottawa (Ariz.) will also be attending the meet, but the Lopes will only be scoring against the Eagles due to prior meets with the ACU and OUAZ.

LAST TIME OUT
GCU swimming and diving teams held their last competition of 2021 against conference foe NAU, OUAZ and ACU. It was highlighted by a combined 11 pool records at the Dec. 11 meet. The women had a very impressive win against the Lumberjacks, the first in program history. The men dominated the in-state competitors after they won all 14 events against the Spirit and Firestorm.

SCOUTING
Eagles: GCU will face the Division II Concordia Eagles for the first time in program history. CUI last performed at the CBU Lancers Winter Invitational in Dec. 2021 where they placed seventh out of eight teams. Concordia Irvine also participated in the Division I Malibu Invitational hosted by Pepperdine. The Eagles won seven events and held solid results against the USD Toreros. CUI is led by head coach Bert Bergen who is in his third season.
DIRECTIONS & PARKING
Fr. Edward Reese Aquatic Center is located at Brophy College Preparatory at 4701 N. Central Ave. in Phoenix. The pool is on the east side of campus with parking on the south side.
COVID-19 PROCEDURES
Spectators will be permitted, and masks are recommended, but not required. Spectators MUST remain in the bleachers.
