Weiss earns WAC weekly honor

GCU junior went 2-0 to win conference singles award
The Grand Canyon women's tennis team earned another WAC award with junior Jana Weiss being named the WAC Singles Player of the Week after two wins in conference play over the weekend.
The Klagenfurt, Austria, native extended her singles winning streak to nine matches this weekend and finished WAC play with a 6-0 record. The Lopes won both matches 7-0 against Chicago State and New Mexico State and clinched their second straight WAC regular-season championship.
Against the Cougars, Weiss defeated Katarina Drazic 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3 to clinch the 4-0 win for the Lopes on Saturday. On Sunday, Weiss was the second Lope to finish in singles, winning at Court 3 in an identical scoreline, 6-1, 6-0, over the Aggies' Miranda Bishard.
Weiss and the Lopes wrap up the regular season Friday at Northern Arizona at noon.
