The Grand Canyon diving team will send a pair of individuals to the NCAA Zone E Championships from Monday to Wednesday at Wall Aquatic Center on the Northern Arizona campus.
With limited opportunities to compete this year for freshmen Lizzy Mcknight and
Isaac Poole, the GCU duo qualified for the NCAA Zone E Diving Championships in a meet that will determine qualifying spots for the NCAA Championships' diving events.
"Lizzy has done a great job this season and after a strong performance at WAC, she is looking to do well at Zones, particularly in the 1-meter and 3-meter springboard events," GCU diving head coach
Hunter Shafer said. "Isaac is looking good in the 1-meter event and we will be focusing on that event in particular, but he also could have a good 3-meter event. The men's event is smaller than normal and is stacked with talent. I'm excited to see the competition unfold next week and to see Isaac compete as well."
Mcknight placed third on the 1-meter board at the WAC Championships and tied for second on the 3-meter. She was also 4th on the platform. Poole won the consolation finals at the WAC Championships on the 1-meter and finished 16th on the 3-meter board.
