The Grand Canyon men's golf team hosts the GCU Invitational on Monday and Tuesday. GCU headlines a 17-team field in a 54-hole event taking place at GCU Championship Golf Course.

Joining the Lopes, the field includes Southern Miss, California Baptist, Creighton, Pacific, Wichita State, Dixie State, Eastern Michigan, Northern Colorado, Drake, South Dakota, North Dakota State, CSU Northridge, Sacramento State, Omaha, CSU Fullerton and UT Rio Grande Valley.

There will be a 7:45 a.m. (Phoenix time) shotgun start on Monday and Tuesday. Monday's round will consist of 36 holes and a final 18 holes will be played on Tuesday.

The 2020 GCU Invitational was canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The 2019 event was won by Kansas City with an 829 score (23 under par), which was 14 strokes better than runner-up UT Rio Grande Valley.

The Lopes are coming off a 14th-place finish at the Bandon Dunes Championship in Oregon. GCU senior Trevor Lampson closed with a final-round 72 while freshman teammate Craig Passmore highlighted a first-round 71 with a field-best eight birdies.

Looking ahead, the Lopes head south to Maricopa for the Wyoming Cowboy Classic at Whirlwind Golf Club on April 5-6.
