FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The Grand Canyon diving teams had two freshmen, Isaac Poole and Lizzy Mcknight, compete at the NCAA Zone E Diving Championships on the Northern Arizona campus.
"Isaac (Poole) competed in the 1-meter today and dove really well in a stacked men's event," GCU diving head coach Hunter Shafer said. "He finished in 10th place and a number of my peers had compliments on his diving."
Poole competed on the 1-meter board on Wednesday and finished 10th overall. Poole began the day finishing eighth in preliminaries with a score of 300.75. His top-10 score of 588.30 was just shy of Stanford's Hunter Hollenback in ninth (591.95).
The top four in the men's 1-meter qualified for NCAA Championships.
Conor Casey of Stanford was the top finisher (708.20) and USC's Georgii Korovin (705.35) finished runner-up.
Earlier in the week, Poole finished 17th overall on the 3-meter board.
Mcknight competed on Monday and scored a 230.10 on the 1-meter board, finishing just outside the 18 individuals who advanced to finals.

The GCU diving teams had two individuals complete the first day of the NCAA Zone E Diving Championships on the Northern Arizona campus.
Poole and Mcknight represented the Lopes at the event to help determine who advances to the NCAA Championships.
"Both Isaac and Lizzy dove well today," Shafer said. "Isaac advanced to finals on the 3-meter and Lizzy just missed out on the finals on the 1-meter."
Poole recorded a score of 269 in preliminaries on the 3-meter board. His final score of 533.25 placed him 17th overall.
Mcknight tallied a score of 230.1 on the 1-meter board. Her total was just outside of the 18 individuals who advanced to the finals.
