The Grand Canyon men's golf team tees it up for the first time on Monday when it heads to the Orange County Collegiate Classic in Coto de Caza, Calif.

The two-day, 54-hole event is hosted by UC Irvine and will be played at Coto de Caza South Course. Joining the Lopes in the field are CSU Fullerton, UC Irvine, California Baptist, Cal Poly, UC San Diego and San Francisco.

The Lopes played in this event last season and finished third out of 17 teams. Seniors Trevor Lampson and Michael Salazar were in action as GCU finished behind co-champions San Francisco and CSU Fullerton.

GCU's last tournament came back in February of 2020, a seventh-place finish in Hawaii.

The Lopes did not play in the fall as the WAC suspended the fall season due to health and safety concerns related to COVID-19.
