Olympian Brooke Andersen joined the Grand Canyon track and field coaching staff as a volunteer assistant with the throws team.
Â
"I am delighted to work with such a wonderful and highly accredited coaching staff," Andersen said. "I'm also looking forward to assisting Coach (Nathan) Ott in helping the throws program excel into the 2022 season and future years to come."
Â
Andersen competed in the Tokyo Olympics this summer in the hammer throw and placed 10th overall. She was coached by Ott, who is the current throws coach for GCU.
Â
In addition to coaching the Lopes' throws team, Andersen also will use the GCU throwing facility to continue training alongside Ott.
Â
"I'm very grateful for Coach (Tom) Flood for allowing me to train at the GCU facilities with Coach Ott," Andersen said of the Lopes track and field head coach.Â
