The Grand Canyon women's swimming team cruised to a 145-110 home victory over WAC newcomer Dixie State on Saturday at the Fr. Edward A. Reece Aquatic Center in Phoenix.
The Lopes called on the combination of eight swimmers to capture 12 of 14 events on the afternoon.
"Our women swam another great meet today," Lopes head coach
Steve Schaffer said. "Their focus on racing this year, especially with a smaller team, has been better and more consistent than any other team we have coached. They are building a great foundation for the WAC Championships and for years to come. I couldn't be more proud of them."
GCU set a pool record in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1 minute, 34.79 seconds. Junior

Emily Muteti ended the meet with the record time.
Lopes junior
Kristina Miletic won the 1,000 freestyle with a time of 10:34.59, nearly 17 seconds ahead of the runner-up time. Miletic also captured the 400 individual medley, rallying from behind to win (4:32.99) and edging out Dixie State's Akalia Bostock by three-hundredths of a second.
GCU sophomore
Briana Rittenbach won the 200 freestyle (1:54.87) and the 500 freestyle (5:12.84).
Other multiple individual event winners included
Robyn Edwards in the 100 backstroke (57.85) and 200 backstroke (2:03.34) and Muteti in the 200 butterfly (2:05.29) and 100 butterfly (55.62). Carr captured the sprint events, taking the 50 freestyle (23.37) and the 100 freestyle (51.77).
GCU is back in action on Saturday, Jan. 30, at California Baptist.
