Grant Carpenter earned WAC Track and Field Athletes of the Week with standout performances at last weekend's Houston Invitational. Â

Hildebrandt, a senior distance runner, won the women's 3,000-meter run with a time of 9 minutes and 50.61 seconds. That mark is the fastest this season in the WAC. She also finished fourth in the women's mile, clocking in at a WAC-best 4:57.07.Â

Xydona, a senior multi-athlete, took third place in the pentathlon event. Her score of 3,608 points put her in first place for the WAC season by 253 points. This is Xydona's second WAC Field Athlete of the Week honor this season.

Carpenter, also a senior multi-athlete, placed fifth in the heptathlon with a score of 5052. In his events, he landed at 6.60 meters in the long jump and placed second in the shot put with a toss marked at 12.70 meters. Â

Sophomore distance runner
Jacob Lewis was nominated for his GCU record-breaking performance. He beat the GCU mile record by nearly a full second with a run of 4:11.35.Â

The Lopes return to the track on Friday for the New Mexico Collegiate Classic in Albuquerque.Â
