Linam earns WAC weekly honor

Local product claimed medalist honors at GCU Invitational
Grand Canyon golfer Alexis Linam was named WAC Women's Golfer of the Week after her weekend victory at the GCU Invitational.
Linam, a junior from Peoria, Arizona, picked up her first collegiate victory with a two-shot win over Kimberlee Tottori of Seattle U in a 14-team event at GCU Championship Golf Course. Linam finished with rounds of 68 and 70, good for a 6-under-par total.
Linam helped lead the Lopes to a team victory by one shot over California Baptist in the team's first competition since October.
Linam's 6-under-par score was also a GCU Invitational record, in the seventh year of the event. She shattered the previous mark, which was held by Tara Finegan of Portland State, who finished with a 2-under=par score in 2017.
